I've applied this year and got rejected b/c my high school transcript was not so desirable. If I do great at another college for two years, what are the chances of me getting into Kenyon by my third year? Are transfer rates a lot lower that regular admission rates? By how much? If I plan to transfer by my junior year, will they look at my high school transcript at all when making their decision or would it be strictly based on how I did during those two years at another college? If anyone got in as a transfer student, would you mind sharing your stats? Thanks in advance.

It’s actually very difficult to transfer into Kenyon. The transfer student acceptance rate is only 17%. The freshman acceptance rate is 33%… though something like 40% of an entering class is composed of early decision candidates, for whom the acceptance rate is 55%.

I do know of at least a couple of people who came as sophomores-- no juniors.

I’m fairly certain they will look at your hs record and test scores, though getting excellent grades at another well respected college or university will help a great deal. Also, it would help to know exactly why you were rejected. Did you call your rep and ask for specific reasons? You could say you are looking to transfer in a few years and would like to know the areas you need to improve in for admittance.

I feel like there are more sophomore transfers than juniors. If you get great grades from a respected college or university, they will probably consider that more relevant than your HS transcript both because the college grades will be more recent and because college grades are probably a better predictor of how someone will continue to do in college than HS grades are.
