How Hard Is It to transfer to Vandy?

Hey, guys. It's my first post so bear with me.

I'm wondering what my chances are for transfering to Vandy. The reason why I would like to transfer is because I think Vandy more closely approximates my interests and is a "better fit."

I'm currently a Freshman at WashU, and right now I'm taking 15 credit hours. At the end of the semester I'll probably have something close to a 3.3, which will hopefully pick up to about a 3.5 by the end of freshman year.

In high school, I had an unweighted 4.0, 2160SAT, 32ACT, 6 APs, etc.

I'm curious about a few things couple of things: (1) How strong of an applicant am I? (2) What is the transfer process like? i.e. Does Vandy place more emphasis on college work or high school work? Could my not-so-great college grades significantly hurt my chances in transfering?

Thanks everyone.

Coming from a strong school like WashU, you should be fine with the grades that you are getting now. I wouldn't be too worried about it...I think you have a great shot.

Taw, a 3.5 isn't exactly great. It also depends largely on the type of classes you took and their relative difficulty. If you are doing a stereotypically difficult course load, such as biomedical engineering, then a 3.5 should be okay or shouldn't hurt you too much. Vandy will most likely place a very heavy emphasis on your college work vs. high school because all of the tests in HS were designed to help predict how you would handle college-level work. Now that they can actually see how you are handling school at the university level, the test scores shouldn't really be of much importance or much of a factor.

Honestly, I don't know how you'll do, but I hope you find what you're looking for and that Vandy has it. Good Luck!

right now, I'm taking a freshman seminar in economics, a freshman seminar in political theory, an intro macroeconomics course, writing, and calculus 1.

its not hard at all. there are a bunch of ppl who transfer into this school. i think it might even be easier to get in as a transfer.

it's easier to get into about every school by transfer vs when you're in high school...and yes that includes just about all of the top schools you can think of.
