How hard is it to transfer ?

<p>Yep thats pretty much it. Is it easier to get into a school by transferring or by entering as a freshman? Specifically if your looking to get into a big name school like Fordham or Penn State University Park. Whats a GPA one should try to reach for a descent shot for admissions. Oh and this is two years after college</p>

<p>It’s school specific. Highly selective schools often have higher fr than transfer acceptance rates; and they don’t drop academic standards for transfers. Other schools may be similar in their admission of fr and transfers. And some schools, particularly publics, have transfer agreements with IS CCs, which may make it easier to transfer than to be accepted as a fr.</p>

<p>If you look at the Common Data set for the college or the CB College Search function, you can find the fr and transfer admission rates. Remember that Penn State will also depend on whether you’re IS or OOS.</p>

<p>Oh I’m an Eagle Scout, AP Scholar, and an NHS member, you think that they would care about that after two years? I was also apart of Boy State, NYLF (medicine), NYLC, and a high school program at Columbia University</p>

<p>There’s really no good answer. Generally speaking, it’s much easier to transfer, but the competition is harsher. So while you may have a greater chance (if picked at random) of being accepted, people who transfer is usually stronger applicants at selective schools. </p>

<p>At highly selective schools, it’s always harder. Don’t let the Cornell, Georgetown, Amherst, etc acceptance rates fool you as they have unofficial/official agreements with schools. Amherst in particular likes community college students. Cornell has guaranteed transfers, etc.</p>

<p>If they are good applicants, rather than rejecting then, Cornell gives them the option of attending college for a year and maintaining a certain GPA and they’re guaranteed acceptance.</p>
