relatively to chemical engineering (my top 2 engineer is prolly chem and mat)
also how would it be ranked within all engineering majors?
Mint chocolate chip really is better than cookie dough, and both are better that every other ice cream flavor.
how bout cookies and cream?
but seriosuly tho, anyone else ^^^^^^
have answer to original question
Both Materials and Chemical engineering are good choices for someone who is looking for a practical way to apply strong chemistry skills.
I have no clue what you mean by “ranked”? HIgher salary? Better major in your school? (Which school is that?)
You should read the course and department descriptions for majors that interest you and see what appeals to you more.
i guess ranked based off difficulty?
what are all the engineering majors based off difficulty by grad rate, time to grad, student rveiews, amount of class and study time, etc…
I don’t know of any such ranking. It would depend on the student which major is the best fit, and the quality of teaching can vary between and within schools as well.
ok but what do other people usually say for general rankings of hardness?
This seems similar to how no ice cream flavor is objectively better than the others because the answer depends on the individual and their affinities. Now where have I seen a metaphor about that before…
This is a question without an answer.
Not really an answer cause it depends on the person. At my school Mat Sci takes less of the “hard courses” than Chem e. Like Mat sci omits some of the physics labs and programming reqs that Chem e has. But honestly to each their own. I would never go near a upper div mechanics class but found digital systems fairly straightforward
so matsci is generally easier than chemE
also i am not in college so how do i know if im better at a certain type?
You don’t. Nothing is inherently harder. Pick what interests you.
Ranking is easy: if you like it, it will seem easy; if you don’t like it, it will be difficult for you.
I had some chocolate mint the other day that was delicious.
what is the general consensu for engineering difficulty?
i know i might find what i like easier but i was just curious about the general difficulty rankings
i heard electrical/chem were hardest and industrial easiest but i dont know…
General consensus is EE/CHEME is harder than AEROE/MECHE, but the hardest courses of all are the ones that don’t interest you.
where would civil, computer, CS, materials lie in the ranks
There is no general consensus. There are no general rules here.
How are you doing in HS Chemistry? Are you taking AP/IB Chem?
B’s in honors and AP chem
How about Math?
Both are going to be challenging. If you can get through one you can probably get through the other.
Weed out classes like Organic Chemistry are common to both.
Do you have more interest in solids or liquids?
