I am a senior who has completed Calculus I and will be taking Calculus II in the fall. I plan on taking a few subject tests in October, and was told by friends that the Mathmatics Level 2 test isn't very hard. Im good at math, but it's not my best subject. Is the Mathmatics Level 2 test difficult, or is a matter of perception? Assume that I will prep for it.

It's not difficult. With an adequate amount of time you could probably answer each question correctly. What makes the test tricky is the amount of time provided. Essentially, you need to work at an efficient pace and move on whenever you get stuck. Time is of the essence. Don't forget that it's okay to omit a few. The curve is very lenient, like you can miss 6 or 7 and still get an 800. Good luck!

It's not too difficult. However, you may have forgotten some concepts, so you will need to review! But yes, the curve is lenient. I left 5 blank, and probably got 1 or 2 wrong, and got an 800. I went through the entire Kaplan Math IIC book the day before and it helped refresh everything.

yeah definitely time is against you, but remember that this test favors people who work efficiently and know to skip BEFORE getting stuck; that's the key, since if you get stuck and THEN skip, you'll a) be psychologically stressed, and b) waste precious time, so i recommend doing a lot of practice problems. barron's helped; kaplan's book DOESN'T REALLY CHANGE in each new year's editions

YES I agree with Ice and thedailypursuit!

It made me incredibly angry, because I would look at a problem, know exactly how to solve it, but only have 1-2 minutes to do so.

The problems obviously aren't as easy as the SAT I basic algebra and trig questions, but somehow you're expected to solve complicated logarithms in the same amount of time!

I left probably 6 blank due to time constraints. It wiped the floor with me, and math is one of my best subjects.

It's not very hard. I had no time to review before the test except for the night on the hotel's bed a night before, but still got a 750

If you're good at math, you really don't need to prep at all in my opinion.

There are some very specific questions that you would want to review. I had combinatrics on mine as well as some obscure advanced algebra topics that I would never remember.

I had that same question before I took it. I had finished Calc as well and the SAT Math 2 concepts were all greek to me. I suggest reviewing the concepts and taking a few practice tests; then you should be fine, its one of the easiest tests to score high in.

im taking it this november, and i just got my barrons book. i still need to get the RUSH book though.

im gonna start prepping in august-september time.

=o wat do u guys think i can get if im really adept at algebra and i took calc last yr?
im getting like 750s in SAT 1 math. im gona prep after oct sat lol, i think i can get a 800 =]

just wondering, is lvl 1 harder than 2 or the other way round?

just another question:

"The curve is very lenient, like you can miss 6 or 7 and still get an 800. Good luck!"
is this the same case for physics? what about lit and french? anyone made experiences on that one?

all languages are very easy.
Math IIC is extremely easy, I got a 790 without preparations.

lol, don't get the wrong idea german123 (if you read anhtimmy's post, that is, lolol)

math level 1's content is easier than math level 2's content, HOWEVER, the curve on math level 1 is also harsher than the curve on math level 2. that's why it's easier to get a high score on math 2C than math1C

i wish all sat2s were as easy as math 2! all you have to do is use your calc for everything and boom 800..

I don't know what the hell you're all talking about...math2 is hard.

i mean, it's maths... soem ppl get along with it, others don't

thanks @sensation asia

Right. Somebody was saying that the Lit test was hard and I was thinking "***?! I made an 800 on that test with my eyes closed!" It all depends on your strengths.

Yeah, but I'm actually good at math! I did score a 780 SAT I math...
