After searching for a while, I could find absolutely nothing about MMSS's acceptance rate. The program does not seem to be extremely well-known, but it is very exclusive. Can anyone give me a ballpark on freshman acceptance rate into the program?

I don't know about freshman entry, but supposedly entry as a sophomore is ridiculously competitive...but that's only what I've heard

NU is fairly tight-lipped about MMSS admissions. I think it's harder to get into than WCAS, but I don't think it's Harvard or Yale...maybe Penn or MIT? I heard from a student in MMSS that of the MMSS applicants, 1/3 are rejected, 1/3 get into NU, but not into MMSS (I'm not sure if this is possible), and 1/3 get into MMSS.

If it's possible get into NU w/o getting MMSS, there's no harm in applying to it. Also, be advised that it is an intensive program that takes up a good amount of time during your early years. If you don't mind the loss in electives and putting in the effort, go for it.

It's a well-respected program and has good success placing students in high-level jobs. Also, it is very strong at helping out students with specific interests that involve a practical application of stats and math.

I was in MMSS years ago shortly after its inception -- pre-personal computers! it's a great program, nothing like it. I turned down a 5-year Wharton BA/MBA program for it and don't regret it. The kids I went to school with have done amazing things.

I'm pretty sure it's possible to get into NU but not MMSS. The MMSS application is due in March and goes straight to the MMSS office.
