Hello for all boilermaker!
I applied to FYE, but I wasn’t admitted due to high demand on Engineering. They offer me an alternative option and then I can CODO to Engineering after meeting the requirements. That being said, how hard is Purdue? especially for engineers? Is there anything I need to consider in my first semester?
Note: I got admitted to Penn State-University Park to College of Engineering, but I’m leaning toward Purdue I don’t know why.
Quite difficult. The average GPA is ~2.8/4.0. I knew many people who dropped out of FYE/ Purdue altogether.
The FYE 131/132 classes can have 10+ hour long weekly homeworks. You’ll be taking Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, ENGR 131/132, English, and/or CS during your freshman year. You need to take between 15-18 credits every semester to graduate in 4 years (for civil you need to average 17 credits a semester).
It’s rough and CODOing isn’t guaranteed.
