How hard is the Chico state honors program for business?

I have a 3.65 GPA and a 1780 on the SAT. I did not get into the main schools I wanted so I have been looking at Chico. I am kind of a "work hard play hard" person, so would I still be able to have a social life as well as do well in the honors program?

my son is a freshman Econ major in the honors program at Chico. He chose to live in the regular (rather than honors dorm) to broaden his exposure. The GE honors program basically asks you to take a designated honors course each semester. For the rest of the classes, you are mixed in with the general population. He’s really enjoyed the two courses he’s had (one last semester, one this semester). They aren’t harder than the standard GE fair but, they are taught in a more thought provoking manner. The classes he’s taken have been team taught and explore the relationship between art, life and science. He’s home on Spring Break right now and I just asked him, he’d absolutely recommend the program to anyone interested in a deeper look at required classes. They do have an optional 9 unit course he’s decided to skip - at least for now. 9 hours a week is a lot of time with the same 20 people.

I can also say he loves the school and has plenty time for play - while posting solid grades in his first semester. I believe you need to maintain a 3.3 GPA or they bounce you from the program. The Honors brochure makes it sound harder than its - and the priority reg has been great. He hasn’t had an 8:00 class yet.

They offer some major specific honors programs as well that I know less about.

We’ve really been thrilled with Chico so far.

Good luck and let me know if you have more specific questions.
