how hard is to change your major after you are in?

hi
how hard is to change your major from asian american studies to psyc or communication on orientation day once you are in UCLA?

THANKS

i'm pretty sure it's close to impossible considering both those majors are highly highly impacted

like he said, near impossible. you have a lot of red tape to get through. keep in mind you must ALSO complete the pre-req's for asian american studies and psych/communications (depending which one you want to switch to). you basically have to wait a year and may have to petition to the department to accept you. remember you must keep a competitive GPA.

they can also reject you, not let you join the department.

easiest path? just study hard, get a +3.8 GPA, finish pre-req's for Comm/Psych.

the UCLA rep frowns down on those that take the less impacted, easier to enter major, just to switch. When i told her I was a philosophy major, she warned me to spread out my pre-req's so it doesn't look suspicious. if they have any suspicions you may be trying to do that, she told me that they'll reject you, qualified for your major or not.

just one source, could be just a myth, but honestly... is it worth the risk?

no, definitely not.

comm i would say is impossible.

Psych maybe possible but definatley not on orientation day. You would have to jump through tons of hoops... and keep in mind the first answer and the second and third will most likely be NO.

If you're not happy with your current major, is there another unimpacted major that you're interested in? I switched from one unimpacted major to another one after being admitted, and the process was fairly straightforward.

what were those majors, purplebe?
