How hard is U. of South Carolina for out-of-state?

Im from Connecticut and I was wondering how difficult it is for acceptance. Thanks

USC-regular is a breeze. Fill out an application online and if you have a grade average of a C+ and above, you stand a good shot. I applied for the USC Honors College, which has a more rigorous acceptance standard (1400 SAT, etc) However, the Honors deadline was in December, but USC regular is still taking applications, I think.

Not hard. In fact, it's probably a breeze. Go for it.

really a C+ average? My grades were garbage in HS so I just wanted to know cuz I applyed there and I really want to go there. I got 1170 SATs which I thought would help offset like an 82 average in HS. (I wish I wasnt such a dumba$$ for 4 yrs.) And my ECs, Recs. and essay were pretty good so I'm hoping I'll be getting in there.

USC-Columbia doesn't ask about ECs or letters of recommendation and doesn't have an essay

Yeah, but an admissions officer told me it would only help my chances...I know they dont require it, but why not if my grades and SATs werent great, you know?

I didn't even know they would consider it...good luck though!

I know there are schools like NC State that don't require recs or essays, but they will read them if you have them. Also, schools like UNC only require a teacher rec and a counselor rec, but you are welcome to send more, and they promise they will read them. If it makes you feel better, go for it, but don't expect it to be the deciding factor in your admission...it just may make you look better and more devoted to the school. BTW, when do you hear?

I got a letter saying that they will let me know in early march. I heard they accept those who have the best stats and reject those whose are terrible right away and everyone else hears from them later on (march)

It was my understanding that they have rolling admissions and whether you are awesome, terrible, or in the middle you hear from them about the same time period after you submitted your application

can i ask a q...isnt their also another USC thats really hard to get into...does the really hard USC stand for university of Southern Cali. I heard they had one of the best film programs in the US (hmm.. or was that UCS)

elodie, the other USC does indeed stand for University of Southern Cali, and I do believe it has an excellent film program.

What exactly is a C+ average? I have a low GPA but I'm expecting good test scores, and USC-Columbia is one of my preferred schools.

I think its like a 2.4 gpa if you have like a 78 average. This is how my school does it so idk about yours. My gpa is low too, like a 2.8 so I'm hoping that hes right with the C+ average thing.
