How hard (or easy) is it to get into Davis as a Physics Major transfer?

I’m planning on transferring from UCSC and I’ll have 3 out of the 4 required Physics courses (A/B/C/D) completed and 4 out of the 6 Calculus courses completed. My GEs will only partially be completed, but I’m planning on taking care of those at Davis after I transfer. Apart from that, I’ll have every other prerequisite course completed. Assuming that I maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA, how hard or easy would it be for me to be accepted into UC Davis? I’m a Physics major btw. Thanks!

Hey there,

From my experience as an orientation leader and tutor on campus, it is difficult to predict how UCD admits transfer students. I have seen transfer students who got rejected with a 3.6 as well as students who got accepted with a 2.9. With that being said, a 3.5+ GPA will enhance your probability of getting into the Physics program tremendously. Lastly, I just wanted to say that it might be to your advantage to complete as much GE courses as possible. It is going to be a bit hectic if you have a lot of GE + Major courses to finish and you want to graduate within 2 years of transferring. Hopefully that helps.
