<p>hey, I am a freshman in U of M. I am always determined to major in electric engineering until I heard lots of people say it is super hard. I am kind of scared. I am clear that all kinds of engineering are hard, but I am wondering if EE is the hardest one among all kinds of engineering??? cause I barely heard ME or Industry engineering student complaining their major. I am just soooo confusing right now. </p>
<p>Can any one familiar with EE give me some comments on this. thanks!</p>

<p>Your question is impossible to answer. How did you do your first semester? All engineering is hard in their own way. Electrical is probably considered one of the harder forms of engineering, but thousands of students do it every year, so it certainly isn’t impossible.</p>
<p>Engineering is HARD. The relative difficulty will depend on student strengths and preferences. Ask your adviser for help.</p>
<p>First semester is good. A for calculus and physics, and A-for chemistry. I should be confident about the major. Just some many EE student are complaining, which scared me somewhat.</p>
<p>When I was in Engineering college, the biggest complaint from EE friends related to their labs. They had a lot of labs, and it was a lot of work. But again, so much depends on the talents and interests of the individual students.</p>
<p>Talk to your advisor. And also try to find a way to talk to upperclassmen at your school. There is much variation from school to school.</p>
<p>I have studied Civil, Computer Sci, Electrical, and Industrial (long story) and graduated in all but Electrical. EE is hard in my view largely because of the math-based stuff that hits you right about Signals and Systems time, Statistical Communication Theory, and other assorted stuff. The lab-based and even some theory based stuff is not bad (Circuit Theory…) and a lot of the application classes are actually a lot of fun (Microprocessor anything, for example, computer vision, Digital Design and so on). </p>
<p>Industrial is also math based but not that kind of math - Mr. Laplace and Mr. Fourier seem to have stayed on the other side of the quad there - Civil is pretty straightforward till you hit some of the advanced structures classes (Plates & Shells, OMG). CompSci also had math but again it’s not used all that much. </p>
<p>From what I’ve heard ME is straightforward and ChemE is slightly easier to slightly harder than EE but not by much…</p>

<p>Firstly, I am really okay with my calculus courses, at least by now. I heard that there are several different orientations under Electric engineering. I don’t think I will take the signal one. what I really want to do is circuit design. Another thing is I am currently majoring in ChemE, what I am feeling is that the professor make the courses harder, for some reason I do not know.</p>
