Do u guys think I can get in to Val poly Pomona majoring computer science ?
Or do I have a chance of I put undecided ?Help please :)

Probably not Val poly pomona, but you might have a chance at Cal poly pomona, but I would retake the ACT and take the SAT because you need a fairly high score for that.

Val Poly is in Valencia, Spain. jk… XD

Sorry
I meant cal poly Pomona
I can’t take act in October but I can take another act in dec
If I take it in December, does it count still?

Oh an the application cal poly started
Should I apply now or little bit later ?
Is cal poly computer science program good?
And out of ten
What are my chances of gettin into cal poly with computer science major?

I applied ASAP. I would recommend that to you.

what is asap?
how does it work?
thanks for replying :)

A(s) S(oon) A(s) P(ossible)?

Have you looked at CSU mentor?

<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU;

i applied today
but im nervous that i cannot get in
and which cal state college has a good computer science programs ?
(the one that i can get into)
what other colleges should i apply in computer science major?
also if i retake ACT in Dec 8 does cal poly counts the newer test scores?
than i might have a better chance if my score is higher ?
or do they not look at new scores if i already applied ?

You really need to work on your English. I’m surprised that you have taken AP classes.

I have heard nothing about any of the other cal states having a good computer science program other than both of the Cal Poly’s. But you will definitely not be able to get into the other one.

It is strange to me that you’ve taken the ACT instead of the SAT. Most of the people I know take the SAT and it is hard for me to gauge where you stand without the combination of your M + VR scores.

2012 admission cycle:

GPA: 3.5, SAT: 1110/1600, Major: Computer Science, Verdict: Accepted
GPA: 3.8, SAT: 1320/1600, Major: Computer Science, Verdict: Accepted

1100 is about the avg. SAT score (out of 1600, not 2400) for the entire school, though.

^I think the ACT was historically preferred at SLO.

" also if i retake ACT in Dec 8 does cal poly counts the newer test scores?than i might have a better chance if my score is higher ?or do they not look at new scores if i already applied ?"

I am pretty sure you can find info on the last test date on csu mentor.

I don’t mean to hijack this thread, but the other thread’s been pretty quiet.

I applied to CPP on Monday. I filled out and paid for the application, and I’ve even sent my SAT scores to CPP through collegeboard already. Does anyone know what the next step is? I applied for Electrical Engineering, which, obviously, is impacted, and apparently, the impacted program’s application process is different. I didn’t even the opportunity during the application process to include my letters of recommendation or anything. Does anyone know when exactly I do that? Also, am I supposed to send my transcripts now, or wait for them to “contact me”? I seriously feel like I’ve done something wrong, or that I’m missing something to my application. Thanks for any input, guys!

No LORs at CSU’s, and transcripts are sent in the spring, or after acceptance, If recall correctly. Check CSU mentor, or this might help.

Not sure if they ask for a supplemental part for freshmen, but it happened to a few people I know that were transfer students applying for engineering. Getting into Cal Poly Pomona is strictly a numbers game. If you have the GPA and SAT score required required for your field, you’ll be admitted. I’m pretty sure engineering is hovering around 1200-1300+/1600.

It also depends on the engineering major. You’ll probably need over 650 on the math portion of the SAT and over 550 on the reading portion, and an unweighted GPA of 3.6 or higher to get into electrical engineering (ECE). In the last years it has gotten tougher to get in. In Fall 2006, the admission rate for ECE was 83% (454 admits out of 544 applicants). In Fall 2011 it had gone down to 42% (319 admits out of 762 applicants). At this point, all you can do is wait. In the last years, the understaffed admissions office has had major problems getting admission notifications to students. However, for impacted majors, I believe that applications are sent directly to the departments who are the ones making the decisions.

Thanks guys! Well my CR+M is 1220(M-630, CR-590) and my overall is 1830. My GPA is a bit below average(3.3 UW, 3.5-3.6 CSU/UC) though, due to my rigorous courseload. Hopefully I can get admitted. I visited the campus in March of 2012 and I loved it. I’d really love to get in here.

^ Mine was slightly worse and I got into comp engineering 2 years ago. I had 1210 SAT (1860 total) and 3.1 GPA. My GPA was way below the average so I guess I got lucky.

Hi
I have a 3.17 CSU GPA with a rigorous courseload and a 30 ACT.
I would like to major in Marketing Management.

How do my chances look?

Thanks!

You can calculate your chances by going to the CSU website and looking at the eligibility index stuff.

Your GPA seems kind of low. Don’t know if it’s compensated by your ACT score by that much.

He should be fine, my GPA was even lower and I got into engineering, which is much more impacted than marketing management.
