How hard to get into Plan2/Deans Scholars

For someone with 2300+ SAT score, ranked within top 5 (not %, actual rank) of their class, Eagle scout, sufficient volunteering hours, 8th at Nationals for Business Professionals of America, and some other things.

Would Plan2 and Dean's Scholars be a reach for me?

i heard they put a lot of weight on the essays, so write some decent essays and your stats should carry you in

yeh you should be good. DS is more difficult to get into than PlanII though.

You should be good.
DS only has 30 people in it, though...so it's tougher to get into that
Plan II had about 1000 applicants for the coming year...they probably accept like 300+ kids, with the hope of achieving an incoming class of 180-200.
Try applying early for Plan II, I'm sure it'll boost your chances.
Good luck! P2 rocks. XD

If I'm applying SCEA to Stanford, I assume that means I cannot apply EA to Plan2 as well, right?

for DS, what about a guy in top ~5%, 2050 SAT, 3yr varsity soccer, with decent essays?

and a 6-month online program through NASA concluding in a paid 1-week trip to the johnson space center

Thats unlikely. Most people I know who got into DS have 2250+. But who knows?

aldeswari, I have very similar stats to you and I got in to DS. So YMMV....

thanks, but what's YMMV? :)

Your mileage may vary

CSNerd - did you take any SATII's?

No, but I did take a significant amount of AP tests. Perhaps they use those?

Predator - I can't imagine Plan 2 not taking you. Very good chance for DS too, but that's more of a crapshoot since they have a very small program.

Your stats are good for Plan II. Just don't write completely ridiculous essays, and you'll probably be fine.
