how hard would it be...

to switch majors from Philosophy to Poli/Sci after being admitted as a transfer student?
no dicking around for a semester, trying to 'figure things out.' just straight switch..

i applied under philosophy because i've taken 7 phil department courses and received 7 A's... that show of interest and performance coupled with the unimpactedness of Phil at UCLA (close to 90% CCC transfer acceptance rate for GPAs > 3.5) should get my foot in the door. as much as i love the critical aspects of academic, analytic philosophy, i feel that political theory is more my shteez.
i've also applied to UCB under phil. If admitted, i intend to switch to Rhetoric, which i know, through friends, to be a very simple and uncomplicated process.

if not poli/sci, is there any other major at UCLA, that will allow for an easy transition from Philosophy, that places an emphasis on politics, and political theory / critical analysis of foreign cultures.. etc.
maybe International Relations?

any insight is highly appreciated.

thanks.

switching majors is extremely easy - you just have to fill out a form or two and turn them in.

really?
regardless of how impacted the major is?

for instance, at berkeley, you can't just up and decide to start studying business at Haas..

bummmmmmmmp

other opinions?

You're changing majors within the same college which is fine. For example, you can't just go into nursing or engineering at UCLA.

maybe International Relations?

its really annoying to get into ps classes. . . other than that waht kimx said.
o and we dont have an IR major... just an IR focus within ps. we have global studies though -- but... its impacted................................ in any case, just take random classes if you want to focus on the above mentioned. we have huge depts -- taking classes in law dept [when offered to undergrads], sociology (e.g. polisoc), poli sci lower and upper divs (e.g. 'political theory' class -- forget the course number), history (hist of religions), etc will all help you out . . . and of course phil [upper or lower].
