For any current or past UCLA Regents scholars, what sorts of opportunities has the designation offered you? Internships? Seminars and research positions? Have you heard anything about how other Regents fare during recruitment after graduation for i-banking, law school, finance, etc.? How well-respected is the Regents designation in the job hiring process according to senior/graduating regents? Would you choose UCLA with regents over admission to a top private school that offers no money (no demonstrated financial need)?

a lot of them go onto great things. i know one who was one of 40 students from the USA selected to be a gates scholar (cambridge equivalent of rhodes). but of course, it's all about them, they're great students already. it's not the regents scholarship that makes the difference. they're still the one's who have the academic strength to get a high GPA, the charisma and determination to land that top internship, etc. this is just another case of "it's not the college you go to that matters but rather it's the person that matters."

that is up to you. i know several regents scholars who passed up better colleges to attend UCLA, including harvard and stanford (multiple stanfords actually).

another question: how would you compare ucla's regents program to those at other uc's?

Just for clarification, does Regents include four years of free tuition in addition to the $5500 honorarium?
