My interview only lasted for about half an hr, granted, it was in her home and around dinner time and she had young kids, is this a bad indication?

Alum interviewers volunteer to conduct interviews. Even if your metro area has many alums, most of them probably don’t volunteer to conduct the interviews. Relax. You will have read that interviews are more confirmatory and not that all important. It’s okay if you don’t get an offer for an interview!

Best of luck to us.

In my region there are 8-10X as many applicants as there are interviewers. Some interviewers offer to do 2-3 interviews only and that may be a typical number in areas densely populated with alumni interviewers but not in my region. Although assignment can be random, I personally assign them as they come in so applicants who have submitted everything by December 25th have a much better chance of an interview than the hoards who get submitted one week later. It is not held against you if you are not offered an interview but I suspect it looks bad if you turn the opportunity down (as I have seen done).
