How hectic and stressful are college apps/beginning of yoru senior year anyways?

How hectic and stressful are college apps/beginning of your senior year anyways? I'm debating on whether to leave of Math IIC for senior year. Do you guys recommend getting all SATs overwith junior year?

Get em done now while you’re still a junior. Theres no way you can juggle AP classes, college apps and SATs!

get it done asap. btw, math 2 only covers up to pre-calc, so if you’re taking AP calc your senior year (or a higher level), so waiting is not going to help anyway. I learned that the hard way…

Depends on how many schools you’re applying to, how many visits/interviews you’ll be going on, how many are on Common App. If you can do this during jr year it probably won’t be as bad (research schools, visit them etc). But there always seems to be a school you didn’t look into, wasn’t in your radar or whatever that you become interested in late summer/early fall.

I only applied to 4 schools, but looked into about 12 or so. Visited some fall of jr year, spring break, summer, fall of this year. I think it helps to spread it out, because when it gets to September and every weekend is filled with visits, taking time off work etc, you will hate it.

Also depends on your essay. I started mine in October, and sent them out end of November (all my apps are done). You could start late summer to get a head start before school begins & you’re swamped with SATs, homework, and all that. Think about who you’d like to ask to write your letters of recommendation. Ask them end of the year, follow up with an email over the summer, and that’s one less thing you need to stress over when senior year begins.

My overall experience wasn’t that bad. The worst part is visiting I think. After about 5 they start to blur, and then they’re no fun.

Yes, get most(if not all) testing done before your senior year…if you have any doubts about scores, then maybe you could try 1 more time fall of senior year but if you get it done EARLY you won’t have to worry about that. The most stressful thing about apps TO ME is all the supplemental materials from teachers, GC’s, etc. Be VERY organized about these things! Give them checklists (or something similar) and let them know the DEADLINES…that way you’ll know they’ve sent things and the only thing left to worry about would be the adcoms sifting through your stuff (but at least it will BE THERE,well, hopefully, lol). College visits help eliminate most of the worry because they help narrow specific preferences about schools. But try AT ALL costs NOT to be one of those indecisive people who go from being interested in Big State Univ’s to LAC’s (ME)…make sure your app list is cohesive and the rest is out of your hands.
AND essays are the time you have to speak directly to adcoms so make sure they exude YOUR voice…

get ur testing done before senior year. between college apps, essays, interviews and maintaining decent grades in challenging courses, prepping for the SAT would suck.

Like everyone says, take what you can now. My D. decided to do her SATs one more time senior year to try to pull up on of the grades, but it was a choice, and not a panicked thing like some of her friends are going through trying to squeeze in tests around everything else that’s going on.

Personally, I’ve loved being done with standardized tests (I finished June after jr. year).
As sick and twisted as this may sound, I sort of laugh at my classmates who are still doing retakes…

As for stress, I’ve wanted to pull my hair out several times. I’ve been so ridiculously busy this year (but note, my school does not go easy on seniors- the class work is about 5 times as difficult as junior year).

same here johnson181

Take the SAT IIs in May or June so you know if you MUST take them again.

its not too stressful, but get ur testing done as soon as possible

I cry every night and count down the days till Dec. 31.

Only half-kidding.

It has been really stressful for me, and it continues to be so. Between EC’s and homework, I’m busy enough. Tacking on applications just adds stress. I think I would die if I had to worry about standardized tests on top of all this. But you might be better with time management than me.

Seriously, though. Applying to college has been so stressful for me.

this has been by far the most stressful year of highschool for me. For soem reason all my AP teachers this year are loadign me with enoguh hoemwork to keep me more than busy, but i still need to do multiple apps and i just finished the last of my retakes today…if i could change one thing it would be that i would have had all my apps done over the summer

I do not have good time management… lol Okay, should I just keep on studying Math IIC despite me taking AP Calc and 4 other APs and try to get a good score this year? (Jan or spring)?

I feel like I got a high 600 or mabye a low 700 on the Math IIC but that is not what I expected. I know I’m capable of 750+ (Which is my goal as of now) but I really want an 800… Should I cancel this score and take it again or keep it? If keep, why?

ask the seniors at your school. it’s different everywhere imo.
but yes, I’m very busy.
