How high should your math skills be when you take AP chem?

The AP chem teacher at my school always says you should be at least in Pre-cal when you take the class, is this true? Because when I start this year, I will be in algebra 2 trig (GAH! should have taken this my freshman year) and in Pre cal next year.

umm..well doesnt really matter what class ur in but u need to know the following:

logarithms

quadratic formula

be able to handle scientific notation in equation solving

understand conception of "rate of change" (you don't need to know the calculus aspects..derivatives..just know it as "slope") for kinetics

manipulate equations and formulas

thats about it...so its not really all that much...basic thing is understand logarithms

u have to be in atleast algebra II honors at my school

your are fine you need at least algebra 2

As everyone else has said, Alg 2 is good enough.
