I am a prospective math major. I got into Harvard EA and withdrew/am withdrawing all my other applications (7 being withdrawn) except Caltech, MIT, Princeton, UC Berkeley, Stanford, and Yale. My top choices are Harvard and Caltech. My parents still want me to apply to Yale, but I don't want to take someone else's spot (the reason for withdrawing my applications). I was under the impression that Yale was more focused on liberal arts than STEM, but is this true? I might withdraw my Yale application as well.

Yale has a strong math department. Are you familiar with Mandelbrot? Until he died in 2010, Beno

If your top choices are Harvard and Caltech, and you already got into Harvard, why in the world would you keep open any other applications?

My parents, and the fact that I might change my mind down the road. Stanford, MIT, Princeton, and Berkeley all have great math programs too, of course, but if it was my choice alone I’d withdraw all but Berkeley (because Berkeley will probably be nearly 2x cheaper, and I’d like to keep that option open for the time being).
I’ve decided to withdraw Yale, for a few reasons (and have gotten my parents to agree). I somewhat regret submitting so many other applications before a decision was made…
