When I asked my friends, they told me adcoms would not even look at the recs bsides TE and counselor's recommendation so they suggested not to send additional recs. However, i still asked a professor at UCD and an ambassador to write additional recs for me. Do you guys think these can actually lift or help my application? I am applying from a foreign country tho. thx

In most cases, the only time a supplemental rec will be helpful is when it’s truly outstanding and can reveal aspects about you that aren’t noted elsewhere in your application. I suggest sending only one additional rec and then only if that one is, as I mentioned, superior. Going beyond the number of required recs can be risky, especially if the additional rec is merely mediocre.

the professor’s rec is about my academics and is superior i think. he is really high on me since he knows me pretty well. the another one i believe is focused on diversity( been lived in three different countries), its good but not great. i send both of them to the most of schools i applied. so it gets me a little bit worried… thx for the info

I’m in a similar situation (sent additional rec but am wondering about it now). I think, though, that the vast majority of additional recs they get probably are mediocre/don’t add anything truly new, and that even if the additional is lauding you but about something already demonstrated it really can’t hurt you.

o i c thx :>
