Getting involved during college and having great EC's for internship/employment chances??

Im a college student but I am currently only in 1 club at my school that only meets once a week. I also do intramurals but that's not something you list on a resume. I have tried to get into many things but ALL of them rejected my because they were application/interview based to get in and a ridiculous amount of kids applied.

So basically...how badly does not getting overly involved in college hurt employment chances?

It won’t matter so long as you can get involved in other ways either through holding and advancing in a job during college, or through organizations outside of college. You are not limited ot getting invloved with your college. I’m sure there are thousands of non-profits in your area that you could get invloved with throughout college, and maybe even take a leadership role in. If you have nothing on your resume other than the fact that you are taking college classes, then you will have a very poor chance of obtaining a good internship/job.

For many STEM internships, GPA, LORs and previous and current work experience and current skills are more important than ECs.
