I understand that this wuestion will probably make you laugh, but basically my parents told me there was no way I could afford an expensive lib arts college, and I didn't care anyways, so I only applied to OU and OSU, but now I want to apply to some other schools that offer full need. I didn't know the deadlines were so soon though! Would it be a waste to apply now? The deadline was two weeks ago, but I would probably get accepted if the accepted my application.

They almost definitely won’t accept applications that are two weeks. You could take a gap year if you really want to apply to those schools. Though some LACs do have 1/15 deadlines (tomorrow).

Colleges differ and you need to check with ones you are interested in. Many, particularly higher ranks, won’t consider you if application is truly late. However, for a lot of colleges the application deadline does not prevent applications thereafter, but the late applicant won’t be considered until decisions are made on all others who applied on time and then if there are still any openings the late applicants will be considered. Also, such an applicant’s ability to get financial aid might be hampered as they will often determine all aid packages for timely applicants first and then determine whether there is any more money they can use to provide aid for late applicants and sometimes there is little or none.

It’s defenitely worth calling the colleges that interest you. Applications are down at many private colleges and I think many will consider late applications.

Late by a day is not advised but usually your application will still be looked at. By two weeks, I don’t think so, although it wouldn’t hurt to ask. However, it won’t seem like you were very interested if you were that late.

if you’re really and truly interested, call them and let know your situation or ask your college counselor.
