I want to know how much APs really matter, and also how weak my ECs are. I used to think they were decent, but reading about other students has really changed my perspective.
For example, heres my case:

I have a decent GPA of 95.36 (weighted) and i think 94.something unweighted. I have taken almost all Honors classes but... no APs... ever.
My SAT scores are good (2120 breakdown: CR 740 M 640 W 740)
My ECs are regular, I'm not president of anything and I havent done a single club for all four years. Here they are:
-Gymnastics for quite a few years (quit freshman year though and it was outside of school)
-Track soph year
-Math Honor Soc
-Foreign L Honor Soc
-Peer tutoring J and S year
-Volunteer program at school to work with emotionally disabled children (J ans S year)
-literary magazine S year and another club to raise money for AIDs S year as well.
-National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholar
-Summer job as a lifeguard last summer
That's about it, I think. So the thing is it might not look too consistent, but I have a few points in my favor. I moved to the US when I was 12 from South America, I like to think my essays are rather good, I have good SAT scores and GPA (especially because my native language isn't English, however, I hate using that as an excuse for anything).

So, how much will the lack of APs and inconsistency of ECs hurt me?
P.S.- I'm aplying to schools like BC, BU, Northeastern, Fordham, etc. but I've been considering the idea of applying to Ivies or top20 schools. Oh and I want to be a journalist someday :)
