I had my interview with my "counselor" today (not really a counselor, but she writes the rec) and it really didn't go too well.

She said stuff like: "it looks like you're in a hurry" and "I heard from one teacher that you don't participate in class".
Now my guess is that she will write a "luck warm" rec.
Does the adcom really care, considering that my teacher recs will be excellent?

I'm applying ed to UPenn.
It just bothers me that a women that knows nothing about me and who interviewed me for 20 mins on monday morning is going to impact my college admission.

i totally agree. my counselor is new this year and doesnt know me well aside from my grades and an hour conversation we had. that and his son whos in my grade hates me. i asked about the importance of counselor recs to a few universities whose info sessions i went to like harvard, duke, upenn. usually the rec has a spot where the counselor says how long they have known you, how well, out of how many students, etc. the colleges /should/ understand that not every students has an awesome personal counselor =)
