how important are EC for film school?

hey i plan on transferring to a film school (all privates) Chapman, USC, and LMU. and i was wondering to get into their film school how good your ec have to be vs GPA alone. my ec is not really film related but more of a design (photoshop; self employed designer). my top school would be Chapman so any opinions. any suggestions? i was thinking of joining film clubs but would that really boost my chances? i plan on going to TV major and their major requirement is to write an essay, not make a video.

so to break it down, do film schools want both good gpa and a good amount of EC or is more of a gpa and your requirement essay for that major? i have only 3 ec going on right now. church, self employment, 1 club.

thanks.

Your EC is as important as your GPA. It’s not a matter of how many EC’s you have, but rather how long and how significant.

I think film schools look for passion and creativity. If your EC’s show those, you will be fine. If not, look for ways to show those things.
