Hi,

I was just wondering in an overall consideration of an applicant's profile, how important/ how much weight do extracurriculars/ any non academic involvements carry? By extracurriculars I mean anything that is not purely a grade or statistic (eg. GPA, rank, ACTs, SATs).

Thanks!

I would say very important. Colleges want people who are not only going to succeed at their school, but enhance the experience for themselves and others. Good grades and scores and yada yada yada are good but if that is all you have to show for 4 years of high school then you appear to be a very one dimensional student and applicant to them. Extracurriculars show them what you offer them OUTSIDE the classroom, it’s a big mistake to not get yourself involved in more than the books. Hope that helps.

Thanks @SvFalcons74 for the input, it was very helpful.
