How important are ECs to UW?

<p>I've got a 3.69 UW, have 3 APs and 5-6 honors, but pretty weak ECs. 200+ hours of community service, a couple of clubs, tennis, marching band. How important are ECs to UW? I'm in state.</p>

<p>that doesnt seem that weak to be honest haha. maybe with the overachievers on here… but i have heard that GPA/classes matter a lot more than ECs do.</p>

<p>Your ECs are what UW is looking for. Don’t worry. However your ECs are way below the standard for College Confidential. Community service hours in the hundreds and not thousands? Weak.</p>

<p>no, i think what you have is fine. i have 300+, but really, uw is not going to know how many hours you did. they will know how many years you did if you checked it off on your extracurricular section of the app, but again, what’s more important is what you learned from your experiences. that is the purpose of trying many different things, so that you can learn something new from many different areas.</p>
