How important are extracurriculars to BU?

On College Board Big Future and some other college data websites, BU ranks extracurricular activity as “considered” in a tiered system that is as follows: very important, important, considered, and not considered. Usually schools list such things as first generation status, geographic location, and demonstrated interest as being only “considered” but BU apparently feels the same way about extracurricular activities?

How accurate is this claim? Would that mean that the objective part of your application is far more important than the subjective? Scores and grades making up most (if not arguably all) of your application?

Thoughts?
