I'm going to be a junior this coming year and I understand that what you did in freshman/sophmore year are important too. Last year, I was in two clubs, both of which I didn't really take seriously (I hardly showed up)- do colleges check that? I was also in an arts program outside of school, which I did take seriously. Do the type of clubs you participate in matter? Like lets say I join the math club instead of the ceramics club- are colleges picky on what clubs you joined? And do they need some sort of proof from school that you joined the club? Thanks!

Colleges aren’t so picky as to what types of clubs you join - they want to see that you care about what you join, show some sort of passion, and have a desire to do something within your school and community.

Extracurriculars are very important.

Thanks so much!
