I had around a 3.7 GPA in high school before senior year but then my grades took a nosedive during senior slump (mostly C-s). I'v been doing pretty well during my freshman year and plan to work as hard as i can for sophomore year as well but how much will (if any) high school grades affect transfer chances? (i also go to a top15 university)

Cliffnotes: trying to transfer to Harvard from a Top 15 university but my high school grades took a nosedive senior year (senior slump)

From what I have gathered, your high school grades don’t hold much weight if you are a junior transfer. In fact, if your high school GPA was low or took a slump in your senior year, it might show the admissions officer that you’ve overcome whatever caused your GPA to drop in the first place.

On the other hand, the number of students with 4.0 college GPAs that apply to Harvard is probably incredibly high, and of the lot only about 12 were picked in 2009. Getting into Harvard as a transfer student is a crapshoot for anyone unless you have some sort of major hook. I’m not discouraging you from applying, I’m going to apply from a school ranked much lower than yours, I’m just saying you should keep your options open.
