i was deffered from wharton and wondering how important are midyear reports. like i didnt get rejected so that means that the admissions saw that i could possibly be an accepted student right? So if i get close to straight hundreds on my 1st semester grades, would that be a good chance of acceptance? Or is there little to no chance of being accepted once differed from wharton.

Statistically speaking you should still have around a 10% chance. I’m not sure how your school works but I’ve been to two different high schools and I know that neither one of them reported percentages, just letter grades. So, the straight 100s won’t mean too much. Just getting the straight As should help some. If I were you I would also consider trying to retake the SAT or SAT2 (I think you can still to a walk in for one in a week?) just to try to get your scores up. I would also probably send an additional letter of recommendation along with a letter explaining that Wharton is still your number one choice. From what I can tell, pretty much all of the kids who were deffered but later got accepted sent in one of these “i still love you” letters. I wish you the best of luck during RD

my school reports the percent grade but
when should i send in the extra essay or recommendation? before midyear reports are sent out?

When i called them they said mid feb send everything. Extra recs arent necessary unless u did something like top a grade in a subject. And yea midyears are pretty important

^extra recs aren’t necessary but they are a way to stand out and draw a littlbe extra attention to your app. . .it won’t do much, but if UPenn is really your number one pick than you are probably willing to do any little thing you can that could have a positive impact.

I emailed the regional director, she said theres no point sending recs that say the same thing. If you won an award, did something good then it makes sense, otherwise what weight an it add? its upto u tho
