How important are personal insight questions for transfer applicants?

Hi,
I’m planning on applying for transfer this year to a UC from a California community college. I was wondering how essential responses to personal insight questions are. I have heard that only GPA matters when applying to transfer to a UC. I have a 3.7 GPA and my major is computer science I want to transfer to UC Merced.

Hello, I got accepted to UCLA this year as a transfer student. Of course GPA is important but doesn’t play a big role in my opinion. believe it or not my GPA was 3.2 when I applied but my Personal insight questions were strong and I got accepted. But honestly everyone has different experience. Good Luck to you

Hey there! After talking to college advisors and counselors, I would say that PIQ’s are important to developing a holistic view of a student. It’s the only section that can really portray your passions, skills, etc in depth (with the exception to your extracurricular section). You want to make yourself the best possible candidate so a strong set of PIQ’s will help in identifying yourself to the UC’s!
