How important are SAT 2s?

I took my SAT 2s in may and got my results today and I didn't do as well as I'd like :( I got a 690 in math 2 (10 pts away from 700 GRR) and a 660 in ush. (I honestly thought I did better than that)
1. Do colleges weigh SAT 2s heavily? Will getting less than 700 on more than one subject affect my admission chances negatively? I don't think I've seen much people on CC get into ivies/high ranking colleges with such low SAT 2 scores. (Feel free to prove me wrong)
2. Can I choose which SAT 2 scores to send in? I plan to retake math 2 but not ush because I probably won't remember it anymore. So if I get a higher score, can I cancel the 690?
3. I plan to take 3 more SATs - retake math 2, chinese, and maybe lit. Hopefully since I'm chinese I can get a 700+ on that.

can someone please answer?

SAT subject tests are generally only used in competitive universities, so you’ll probably want to have competitive scores. Your scores are not bad by any means - they’re quite good - but if you feel you could retake them and score better on them, that would be very beneficial to you.

If possible, I would take one science SAT II instead of Chinese. To be honest, if Chinese is your native language/language you grew up with, it’s not terribly impressive to have on your app. Many top tech scores require one math SAT II and one science SAT II anyways.

i dont know what science to take it in since i didnt take any AP science. any recommendations?

In my opinion Biology is the easiest. I did a practice test right after Honors Biology 1 and made a 750 on it. Barron’s makes a review book just for the SAT subject tests, it contains everything you will need to know for it.

As long as you get 700+, SAT II scores really dont matter. If you get below 700, then they may hurt you at top universities. I got into cornell, columbia, and carnegie mellon, unhooked, and my SAT II scores that I sent were 780 Math II, 710 Physics, 700 U.S History, 660 World History, and 570 Math I. Obviously, my Math II made up for Math I, but besides Math II, my scores really aren’t that special.

Not all Colleges/Universities require or accept SAT II Subject Tests. I would go to the College/University website that you want to got to and check. I checked the universities I wanted to go to: William & Mary doesn’t require SAT II Subject Tests, but John Hopkins does, so I decided to take them next year.

^
Just so you know, JHU only encourages you to take subject tests; even if they do “strongly recommend” subject tests, they aren’t required for admission.

SAT 2s show a top school what you can do in a specialized area . Top schools expect top scores in the areas you choose .

thanks guys i plan to retake my SAT 2s senior yr. any recommendations on what other SAT 2s to take?
