How important are SAT II's?

I plan on applying to NYU and Boston College and both need two SAT II's, so I'm taking Math Level 1 and Literature on Nov 1. So how important are these test scores to schools?

They are equal to the reasoning test.

Quick question. Is it bad to have 2-3 high scores and one low score? Or do they just look at your best scores (applying to UCs who need to look at 2 SAT2s, does that mean they'll just look at my 2 highest scores?)?

The SAT IIs are pretty important, but most schools put more weight on AP scores. If you got a low SAT II math score but a 5 on ur AP Calc BC for example, it would be perfectly fine.

^ Nope, not true. SATIIs carry more weight, but can be validated/supplemented by AP scores

how do you submit AP scores? additional info section? Do I attach a score report (don't know how =/) or just tell them?

Self-report them.

Lolcats - Wait so just to clarify, if i got a 600 on SAT II USH which isn't very good, but a 4 on the AP Exam (Which I think is doing much better than a 600, though I'm not sure how to convert), would it make up some ground? I'm really trying to figure out a way to weed out or balance this score haha.

Both SAT II and AP tests are written by Collegeboard.
They are made so that if you score a certain score on the AP test, you will get around the same score on the subject test

According to a Dartmouth admissions officer, AP scores can make up for bad SAT IIs

what about IB scores? to what extent can they make up for bad subject test scores?

what if you get poor scores on the SAT II's and you send them to schools who do not require them? for example, notre dame does not require SAT II's, so how would they react to them? would they look at it as a good thing because i took the time to take them?

No. Not to be rude, but that's like saying "I took the time to wake up one morning and drive 10 minutes to sit down and aimlessly fill in circles. So, do you like me?"

^ lol. I think that they would probably be considered.

Taking SATIIs is NOT a waste ...the only people who say that either suck at them or aren't applying to top schools.

so i'm guessing that I shouldn't send bad SAT II scores then...lol

i dnt think u have a choice..they are automatically inlcuded when u send in your SAT reasonings...they get the whole history.

really? SAT II scores are sent along with the regular SAT scores? o.0

yeahh if you are the class of 2009..the rule changes starting class of 2010. major bummer, i had a horrific sat II score.

but then again, i'm taking the SAT II's on Nov 1 and I plan to send my SAT scores before that, so the schools that I don't send the SAT II's scores to won't see them right?

yupp..sendd all ur score before u take the SAT IIs so in case they are bad, you dont have to send them to the schools that dont require them.
