How important are SAT II's?

I always wondered that.

I think that SAT I overshadows SAT II's - am I wrong? I scored 1470 M+V (2170), but only 720 Math II and 700 Bio.

I worried about it for a little, but my friends reassured me that SAT II's truly aren't that important.

Not to mention that I'm planning on majoring in Political Science or International Relations -- why would an adcom even care about Math II and Bio? Unfortunately I didn't take APUSH and my school (strangely) doesn't offer World History... and none of the other SAT II tests aren't really humanities related. I thought about taking Literature but decided not to because I took AP Calc AB and AP Bio... I also took AP Eng Comp, but Literature is really more catered towards AP Eng Lit (same test format with analyzing poems and prose).

It's not that weird that your school doesn't offer World (it's still a relatively new subject).

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but after all the research I've done, I've concluded SAT IIs are more important than SAT Is. I'm only a junior, so don't take my words as gospel, but still...

Well actually, World History (Honors, not AP) was offered at my school a few years ago. It was a required course but now we do Global Studies, which is not really that comprehensive of a course with history... it's more about customs and things like that, culture, etc. I'm taking AP Comparative now as a senior (as well as US Gov & Pol).

I forgot to mention that my school offers most APs (except the more eccentric ones: Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Human Geography, and obv. World History).

Also, you think so even though I'm applying for Poly Sci? And specialized schools, like the Elliot School or Gtown's SFS?
