does McGill just glance at SAT's, or do they weigh them heavily in admissions? I know a lot of Canadian universities don't even ask for them.

I’ve heard that McGill weighs the SAT and GPA/transcript heavily

Well, they are not required from international applicants but this is probably not helpful as you are from America and they do require the SATs…And yes, McGill does weigh the SATs and your grades heavily ^^

i got in with 640 math 600 reading 500 writing
but my acts sort of made up for my shortcomings
29 reading 27 math 25 english 18 science (i dont know how i did that)

sat IIs: 660 chem 600 math I 610 math II

had a 3.8 uw average with a couple of honors classes in the mix… ~2 a year

gl!!

Snowflaek… thats awesome! but what program did you get into??
and what year did you apply??

environmental sciences
waiting on nursing

If I am an international student applying to Mcgill and I have taken an SAT test but am not happy with my score. Can I apply without putting in my score or is it compulsory to state them if you have done a test? Thanks

^McGill requires you to submit SAT/ACT score if you are from US or studied US curriculum. You are not required to submit all the scores from every sitting but you are required to submit at least one set. For SAT, you are required to submit at least one set of SAT 1 and two different SAT 2s of certain subjects as indicated by the schools you are applying.

@snowflaek I’m afraid both majors are reaches for you.

For the SAT I got 690R, 720M, and 650W. But for the ACT I got 31E, 31M, 30R, and 25S (YIKES!) Do you think I still have a chance of getting in? I sent both scores… and unfortunately im applying to the faculty of science (but the ACT science section really tests no science knowledge…)

@Vivian Chancing for Science faculty depends on the major pursued:

Anything to do with life sciences: High match (690 on W would turn life science majors into a low match, unless they decide to operate on the 1600 scale for Fall 2013, which is unlikely) if your GPA is 3.75+; reach otherwise

Any other major in Faculty of Science: Match, as long as your GPA is 3.5+ and any increase in GPA isn’t going to do much.
