Colleges only see your 1st qtr. grades of the senior year when you apply and then later on your guidance counselor sends the mid- year report, correct? How important are those grades in determining your admission?

I would also like an answer to this question.

I have seen lots of times were senior grades were important. Plus I know that some schools are really less likely to admit students who take fluff classes senior year. Everyone intending to go to a four year college should take math-AP stats, calculus, whatever, senior year.

my (projected) senior schedule:

AP Government
AP English
AP Calculus AB
AP Latin V
AP Computer Science A
AP Environmental Science
Physics Honors

Now the only thing I'm worried about on my college application is how sucky my science sequence looks I've taken Biology, Earth Science, and Chemistry through 9th, 10th, and 11th grade. None of them have been honors or AP, artly because I just don't like science that much.

I was thinking about doubling up on science classes this year to make up for that sequence but have begun thinking how much I would hate it. So, is it okay if I drop the AP Env. Science for African-American/Peace Studies?

If you're applying early on ur app u put your gpa through 11th, and if you get in thats awesome..... just dont screw around the rest of the year.... I think your senior year grades become more important if you get deferred because they'll start looking at those new grades to decide if you deserve to be there or not.... those are my thoughts... maybe wrong... i may need to learn how punctuate things correctly, but that's besides the point, lol.

Uhhh... will this be considered a BS schedule?

IB English HL
IB History HL
IB Music HL
IB Math Studies SL
IB Theory of Knowledge
Jazz Band
Show Band

I finished my language and science requirements this year, so I'm hoping colleges will just view it as taking a few deserved electives instead of slacking off...

You should do well first term, just because you never know if you will get into that early decision school (or if you just want to regular), the second term- as long as you don't fail...

Your schedule seems to be an important factor, and your 1st semester grades, but I wouldn't slack off 2nd semester either.

Mid-term grades are definitely very important, after that, just do well enough that it doesn't stand out (in a bad way) when adcoms are flipping through final grade reports.

senior grades dont matter much at all unless your waitlisted or competing for a scholarship, go for a 3.0 and you will be fine

mid term grades are important if your're applying to privates or something of that sort.

i don't think uc's even require mid term reports. not sure though.

im going to a top 50 LAC and my recruiter told me to just get a 2.5-3.0 both semesters and they wont even take a second look.

Ok, I wouldn't slack off senior year. Colleges require you to send a final transcript after your senior year ends, so they will have the right if they feel you completely slacked off to rescind your acceptance to their school.

They defintely see what classes you're taking senior year when you give them your college apps in the Fall. But they also see your final transcript, which the school sends to the college.
