How important are sports?

Well, its not that I don't like sports, but I'm not too athletically inclined. I think all of my other stats are really good, but I'm just wondering what no sports on my resume would look like to colleges. Would they think I'm not a team player? I have done some sports, but they are outside of school. Also, I have actually been an avid fan of dancing. I have won multiple trophies, and one goes as far as regional recognition. I have also volunteered by choreographing little children for a cultural program. I'm not so sure how much value dancing is given at top colleges, but it is pretty unique for a guy, I suppose.

How important are sports, and will I lose out just because I didn't take any?

P.S. I'm only a sophomore, so there is still time.

Some sort of physical activity is a crucial component of a healthy life. If you are not trying to get recruited for athletics, colleges will not care whether you played any particular sport, but depending on how holistic their review is, they may consider whether you participate in any physical activity. Dance should be sufficient. I'd recommend including it somewhere in your application.

Sports are actually really good EC's since they usually take up a lot of time. It shows you can have a commitment to something.
