How important are these aspects of my application?

Hi, so this is my first post so sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread..
ANYWAYS..

So I was wondering how much being a hispanic female is going to help me get into a good university. A few of my teachers keep telling me that I'll have no problem getting into a good university because they are going to jump on the oppurtunity to have an hispanic female in engineering, but I do now know how accurate that is.

The strong points of my application will be:

The schools I am interested in are:

Reach- Cornell, Stanford, Ga Tech, Purdue
Middle ground- UF, UCSB, UT-Austin
Safety- FSU, USF

Thank you for reading!

I think your teacher is definitely right! Your credentials seem awesome (not just for a Hispanic female, but really for anyone). I think you have a pretty good chance. :)

Unless you have something spectacular in EC, test scores and GPA (with course load considered) are usually the primary factors for consideration. Schools will look at all factors, but you still need to meet their minimum requirement in academic achievement before they will look further in your application. Check how does your credential compare with the 25% of admission to get some idea. Being a female hispanic applying to engineering would definitely help your chance.

Thank you  I just see other posts where people list all these amazing things like 36 ACT and National Merit Scholar and I get a little intimidated by my competition…

My test scores meet the minimum expectations for my reach schools, and my GPA easily meets it. However, I havent taken as many AP classes as other kids just because my schools doesn’t offer very many and I am worried that will affect my chances.
