how important are those supplemental essays vs commonapp essay?

I spent a great deal of time on my commonapp essay fixing it to perfection... haha. But on my supplemental essays, the "Why ____?" essays mainly, I just threw in a bunch of little facts I know about the school combined with a few boring blurbs about their science department or their arts department or the program I want to study there or such...

In the admissions process, does the commonapp "main" essay count more than the supplemental essays (typically WAY shorter, like 150-300 words?)

Bump......

I can't say for sure, since I am an applicant like you. However, I believe that both are equally important. Most colleges want to know that you care about them for their own, unique offerings, want to feel that you are truly interested not just in their name but in their personality. Otherwise, why would they accept you? It also, if written well, can convey other aspects of your personality not found in your longer essay.
