How important is class rank for Cal/UCLA?

more like 2-3 times more at our local district.</p>

<p>Last year I know one student who was valedictorian graduated from Lynbrook that did not get into to Stanford, while other high academic high schools send more. I mean test scores are not everything. But I digress, I just want to correct some misconception here.</p>

<p>Which high school districts? Lowell, Whitney? And how many students were in each class? If it’s one of those mega schools with 3000+ students then yeah, that explains why…</p>

<p>There is no misconception to be corrected. Schools in the San Jose area like Lynbrook, Monta Vista, and Saratoga are all top-notch.</p>

<p>Have you heard of MSJS? Oxford Academy? Whitney? to name a few and a lot more.
I acknowledge Lynbrook and Monte Vista are above average but let’s not get too carried away. They are not measure of excellence. Test scores are only one factor, there are other factor to be considered.</p>

Sure.. those schools have pretty good extracurricular programs as well. And don’t get Monta Vista get mixed up with Monte Vista, which is this school in Danville.</p>

School rating is a 9 out of 10. Most excellent high schools have rating of 10 for a long time.
