How important is class rank/gpa?

i know that stanford looks at the applicant wholistically..yadda yadda yadda...

if i'm in the top 10 (somewhere) in my class of 530...is that considered competitive? i know that top 10 is good, but it seems like most people applying are like top 2. I have...3.8-3.9 UW GPA (3 b's) , 4.5+ weighted gpa. 33 ACT...lots of research...isef, winner of regional fair, regional finalist in siemens, tons of awards, etc. I do sports...(competitively, regional/national), etc. i'm sure this post seems silly, but i just wanted to check how many people get in w/ sub 4.0 UW and not 1-3 class rank.

You definitely are competitive. Top 10 is great, and your activities sound interesting. I was #6, and I'm sure there are people here who were ranked lower than that. (The other student from my high school here was ranked #9, I think.)

7/559 baby. Top 10% is fine! Even if you're in the top 10 of 530, you're in the top 3% (I think...).

dont stress, from it what is sounds like you have great stats! Now if you were barely in the top 50% and considering applying to Stanford that would be a different story...
