Is it necessary to have if I want to get any scholarships? How many hours would be reccomended?

I think that community service is more beneficial to admissions than it is to financial aid but I am far from an expert here.

Community service also helps in some merit/leadership/service scholarships from the schools and outside sources.

I’ve come across quite a few scholarships, some institutional and some from outside organizations, that include community service as one of the requirements. In some cases, that is a primary requirement, in others it is part of the picture. However, in all cases it does not seem to be just a matter of racking up hours; rather, the commitment should be long-term and include some leadership and personal initiative.

Due to my problems, i’ve never done community service.
