<p>how important is EC? i just figured out i have almost done nothing special these few years. My only EC is as a committee member in the school soccer club in grade10. This year, i lost the election in student union, so i have no post at all. i swim, play soccer&basketball, play chess for hobby, but i suppose they dont count in EC, do they. What are my chances to be admitted in a decent university with my poor EC if get a ~2000 SAT score?</p>

<p>Swimming, soccer, basketball, and chess can definitely be ECs if you spend a significant amount of time on them.</p>
<p>What is your definition of decent? A 2000 SAT by itself won’t get you into any “good” university, but a 2000 with decent grades and even okay EC’s might be enough. If you don’t have major EC’s then you should easily have enough time to work on your SAT - which is how many colleges look at it too.</p>
<p>sorry to say but EC’S mean a good amount when applying. Colleges want to see that u didn’t go home after school everyday right away. They want to see u involved. Hopefully u have a lot of community service to offset the EC’S.:)</p>
