<p>It’s 1/3 of your writing score, and they look at that. So, it’s important.</p>
<p>Keep in mind that writing is not as important as CR+M.</p>
<p>So, do colleges ONLY look at your cumulative W score? Would they see the score only and not the essay score though?</p>
<p>Building off of Viggy’s question, when superscoring, is it best W (so they see the essay associated with it) or best W and best essay score?</p>
<p>It’s best W overall. They don’t superscore the essay.</p>

<p>no link, colleges don’t really make that public. You could go to cb website and see which scores reported their average W score. If they didn’t they for sure don’t give a crap on what you get, but NU (who lists their average) told me they don’t really consider it because they don’t know if it is a good indicator on a applicants success at the school.</p>
<p>I heard that some(maybe most) colleges actually read your SAT essay for admissions purposes. </p>

<p>I actually read that a study of some UC-system schools shows that the W section is actually the best indicator of college success. They took a large student sample pool and compared their GPAs to the W scores and they found a correlation. </p>
<p>Just thought I’d share that, seemed interesting to me.</p>
