Hi, I am a sophomore and taking geometry. My eighth grade year was pretty hectic, and consequentially I fell a little behind in math. I know that geometry sophomore year is not technically behind but many people do take it freshman year. So,do you guys think it would be good idea for me to take a math over the summer in order to be on a more advanced math track? I am planning on applying to pretty competitive schools but I am quite sure I will not be pursuing math, in any way lol. I am interested in english, possibly law. I would really appreciate your advice, thanks!
Well, it depends, really.
I assume most GE’s require some sort of math or quantitative analysis/relation class. If nothing else, I would pursue math classes to try to test out of them, via AP exams. But that’s just me.
Also, if nothing else, take them just to round out your transcript, and make yourself seem more balanced.
Your lucky lol in my school i cant take any classes during the summer. Also, I had the same experience as you, i messed up a little in 8th grade and I’m on the normal track - (currently taking alg 2 as junior with a high A). If you are good at math then go for it. It will look better if you took precalc then calc. If i were you, if you do try to catch up in math in the summer i would try to take reg calc (if your school has a reg calc) as opposed to ap calc since it might be difficult to catch up to the concepts learned in previous advanced classes.
