I have completed two of UCLA's major prereqs and am signed up for a third in the fall, and I intend to take the fourth (and last) in spring '13. I could have signed up for both remaining prereqs this fall, but I didn't because the other one conflicted with my last IGETC class, which is also an honors program class, so I chose to take that instead. I could have taken the major class, but I would have had to take some class I don't really need as a honors class then. But everyone says how important major prereqs are, so I'm concerned that I've made the wrong choice. I have a 4.0 GPA and am in the honors program and all that.

Taking pre-reqs in your last spring is totally fine. The importance is as long as you finish them before you transfer

But also keep in mind you’re going to be going up against people that do have all the pre-reqs completed. What’s your major?

I’m an English major. I could probably change my schedule around to fit both prereqs but it would be kind of inconvenient…

If you will have 3/4 done before Spring it’s not a big deal at all. They just hesitate a little if like 3/4 are left for Spring or something becuase they’re not sure how you’ll do in those classes. A lot of people still have a pre-req left for Spring, it’s nothing serious. I left 1 out of 3 pre-reqs for the Spring and got into both of the schools I applied to (UCI and UCLA). What is important is getting good grades in those classes and just in general. Don’t worry about it, it shouldn’t have any impact.

I finished one last prereq for Berkeley during winter quarter after apps, and for UCLA I finished one in winter and one in spring. I got into both (for psychology). So it should be alright if you don’t have tons of prereqs left.

Thanks for your replies! :)
