How important is joining clubs when applying for internships/jobs?

<p>I am a freshman business major, and so far I have not joined any student clubs.</p>

<p>I was wondering... how much of a difference does it make on your prospects of landing an internship if you join clubs, such as ones pertaining to business)? Do you have to be a leader/done something substantial in it for it to make any difference?</p>

<p>How important is joining clubs in college compared to in high school to get in colleges?</p>

<p>you need to demonstrate significant involvement outside the classroom to stay competitive with your peers</p>

<p>the form of that involvement is up to you, but don’t be caught with nothing to put down for activities - certainly leaves you with a rough time answering leadership / experience-related interview questions</p>
