I've heard it is very tough to get into Notre Dame without some sort of legacy. Does anyone know how important legacy really is?

i hope it is important, bc i am one... oh well. i think they may come tomorrow...

i have been flipping out this entire week.....

oh yeah --- my dad got this letter from ND about how legacies get accepted at twice the regular admissions rate....

i was thinking, does this mean that since i am applying EA, and the EA addmission rate is 67%, that then i have a 124% of getting in? hahaha....

toodles

I heard that ND tries to get 25% of their class to be Legacies. The way I see it, if you meet certain standards, they open the door for you.

Hi Strandyman! Although a student who is a legacy does have a bit of an advantage, look at it this way - each class has approximately 20 - 25% of legacies. That leaves 75-80% of admissions that are NOT legacies. That is a significant number of non-legacies who are admitted. :) My D was not a legacy, although we do joke around here that she is the start of the legacy for her future kids.

hey so what if my uncle went there? does that mean anything at all? I mentioned it in the final note but I doubt it'll help...
